How to activate your Paystack Registered Business

If your business is unregistered i.e Your business is a Paystack Starter Business, kindly click on  this link to see how to activate a Paystack Starter Business.

As a registered business on Paystack, before you can start accepting real payments from your customers on Paystack, you'll need to activate your Paystack Registered Business. Go to the Get Started page on your Dashboard, on the "Activate Your Business" section of the page, click on "Start". You should see a page that looks like the image below.

1. Personal Information

Click on the "Continue" button in front of Personal Information to verify your identity. You should see a page similar to the one below.

  1. Enter your BVN.
  2. Enter your Date of Birth. The information provided must match the Date of Birth on your BVN record.
  3. Click on the green "Save" button to save.

2. Company Registration

Click on "Continue" next to Company registration to upload details about your company registration. You should see a page similar to the image below.

  1. Choose your business registration type.
  2. Enter your certificate number. You should find your certificate number at the top left of your certificate.
  3. Click on the "Choose file" button to upload your business/organization certificate. 
  4. Click on the green "Save" button to save the changes you have made.
NB: Please ensure that the file/image you are uploading is clear and that the business name and certificate number can be easily seen.

3. Corporate Bank Account

Click on the "Continue" button next to Corporate Bank Account. You should see a page similar to the image below.

  1. Enter your bank name from the drop down list
  2. Enter your corporate bank account number
  3. Click on the green "Save" button to save the changes you have made.
Please note that the this MUST be a corporate bank account and the name of the bank account MUST be the same as the name on the business certificate you have attached above. It is also important to note that this is the bank account that Paystack will remit all the money received on your behalf unless you specify otherwise. Lastly, you can change this bank account anytime, after your account has been activated, as far as the name matches the one on your CAC certificate.

4. Business Information

Click on "Continue" next to Business Information to fill in details about your business. You should see a page similar to the image below.

  1. What does your business do? Kindly give us a brief description of what your business actually does and how you intend to use Paystack to collect money from your customers or clients. This information is compulsory.
  2. Business Email: Enter your organization's general contact email address. Transaction notifications go to this email if they are turned on for your business. This information is compulsory.
  3. Support Email: Support requests by your customers will go to this email. This information is compulsory.
  4. Chargeback Email: When banks dispute a charge, those alerts will be sent to this email address. You are required to respond within 24 hours to chargeback emails, so make sure that this inbox is checked often by a decision-maker at your organization. This information is compulsory.
  5. Phone Number of the Business: Enter the Phone number of your business/organization. This information is compulsory.
  6. Physical Address of the Business: Where is the best physical location at which to find the key members of your team? This information is compulsory.
  7. Website Link for the Business: Enter the link to your business' website. If your primary website is on Facebook, Instagram, or another social network, don't enter it here - you'll be able to enter it in the subsequent sections.
  8. Facebook: Enter the link to your business' Facebook page
  9. Twitter: Enter the link to your business' Twitter page
  10. Instagram: Enter the link to your business' Instagram page
  11. LinkedIn: Enter the link to your business' Company page on LinkedIn page. Note: don't link to a personal LinkedIn account here.
  12. YouTube: Enter the link to your business' YouTube channel
  13. Click on the green "Save" button to save the changes you have made.
Please note that an accurate description of your business is important. If we cannot understand what your business does by looking through your business description, we will reach out to you to give us a proper business description before your account can be activated.

5. International Payments (Optional)

This step is completely optional. If you do not want to enable international payments for your business OR do not have the required documentation, kindly proceed to "Send your activation request" without filling in any details here. 

Click on "Continue" next to International Payments (Optional) if you would like to make a request to enable international payments. You should see a page similar to the image below.

For Paystack Registered Businesses with Certificate of Incorporation (RC Number)

If your business was registered as an Incorporation(i.e you have a Certificate of Incorporation), please select the RC Number option, which should take you to a page similar to the one below. 

  1. Kindly upload your full CAC registration pack and identification of two (2) of the company's directors as required. 
  2. Click on the green "Request international" button after uploading the required documents.
NB: Your uploaded CAC registration pack MUST contain the page that lists the directors of the company

For Paystack Registered Businesses with Business Name, CAC IT Number & all other Business/Organization type

If your business or organization was registered as 

  • A Business Name
  • A CAC IT number
  • A Corporative
  • Any other registration type

Please select the applicable option from the dropdown menu and follow the instructions as shown in the image below.

  1. Upload an evidence of identification and enter your BVN as required in the available fields. 
  2. Click on the green "Request international" button after uploading the required documents.

Send Activation Request

After you have completed the steps 1- 4 above, your activation request page should look like the image below. 

Kindly click the "Send Activation Request" button to submit your activation request.

How long will it take for your account to be activated?

If all the information you provide checks out, your business should be activated automatically. If your business is not activated immediately, our team will review your documents within 48hours, after which one of three things will happen:

  • Your Activation Request will be approved, and you'll receive an email alerting you to this fact
  • If the team discovers an issue (eg. if you submitted a Personal Bank Account instead of a Corporate Bank Account), our team will send an email to with recommendations about what to fix. Once you've implemented the fixes, resend your Activation Request so we can review it again.
  • In the rare case where your business is ineligible to use Paystack, your Activation Request will be declined.

We usually review your account within 48 hours. If you haven't heard back after 48 hours, please contact us at  support@paystack.com.
