The Paystack API
The Paystack API is the set of rules or protocol that define how applications and websites connect to the Paystack service.
Whenever a customer clicks 'Pay' on a website using Paystack, that website sends an API request to Paystack servers which initiates a transaction and loads up the checkout modal to collect the customer's bank details. As such, every action that is carried with Paystack is in the form of an API call.
Finally, software developers are able to use the Paystack API to create unique payment experiences. If there's something you'd like to achieve with Paystack that's not currently immediately available on the Paystack Dashboard, it's very likely that a software developer would be able to make it happen using the Paystack API.
